too greasy
i must be in the minority here, i never cared for the Melrose, i have always found their food to be too greasy and most people i know agree. also, anything i've ordered there has been pretty bland too. i know a lot of people like the Melrose for their breakfast menu, but i don't eat traditional breakfast foods in general. i do like the fact that is open 24/7, but if i'm out and about late at night and need to eat, i'd rather to go Clarke's on Lincoln Ave. Better variety on the menu for vegetarians, and not as greasy in my opinion. - Jane , posted 07/30/07

yummy food, good variety
I always love the Melrose. You can eat healthy (aforementioned salad) or have a huge monster omlette or sandwich. If I still lived in Lakeview, I'd be in there every week. - Heather , posted 12/18/06

Open 24/7
I like the fact that it is open all day everday, and their HOBO skillet is darn pretty good. 3 Stars. - Missy , posted 07/05/05

aaahh
I live behind it now
Service is awful
people are rude and unconcerned about patrons
I am a server and would never treat my guest like I have been treated over and over again there
Awful experience wouldnt go back but so close and food is actually pretty good! - Arthur , posted 06/16/05

It Only Takes One Time
Food is good. Service is usually great. But, one bad service experience and you gonna get dinged! Only one bad service and I haven’t been back there since. With a friend, very long hair, and he is looking bedraggled. We were completely ignored until we had to ask for service. Felt totally unwelcome. Given more time and more good ratings by others, I may try the place again. - P , posted 02/19/05

Welcoming as home.
I love Melrose. The food is great, the staff is personable and worthy of your better tips, and the atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious. Since moving to the area a few months ago, Melrose has become my home away from home. You can find me there any given night blissfully sipping my coffee and loving all that is the Melrose Diner. - Pete , posted 02/02/05

Greatest Diner Ever.
I lived just behind Melrose for 2 years and it almost makes me cry that I miss it so much. There is so much there that's just SO GOOD. I dream about getting grilled cheese or soup or their waffles. Everyone was so nice, even when I'd come in and work at 3am. - Jennifer , posted 11/09/04

Awesome diner, Fresh Squeezed OJ
I lived a block away from there for 2 years. They have wonderful food. Outdoor seating in the summer. And their fresh squeezed orange juice is absolutely delicious. - Neta , posted 09/14/04

All Night Diner - Full Menu - Yummy
Partying late at night? Melrose Diner has a full menu available 24 hours a day. Sunday they usually have matzo ball! The Baked Scrod is good. So is the rice pudding. Also recommend the Mesclun Greens Salad w/Chicken if you're low-carbing it. Full breakfast menu available 24/7 as well. - Andymatic , posted 07/10/04
